Siemens 808D Retrofit: TOS 63A4000 OD Grinder

The Siemens 808D Basic and 808D Advanced controls are well suited for many grinding applications. The 808D Basic will support up to 3 axes, work spindle, and headstock drive. The 808D Advanced will support up to 4 axes, work spindle, and headstock drive.

On this application MasterControls used an 808D Basic control with a single axis configuration to provide plunge and traverse grinding on a TOS 63A4000 OD grinder. In this case the old magnetics were reused, but the Marposs grinding control and stepper motor were replaced with the Siemens 808D with servo control.
