Siemens 808D Advanced: Shoda Router CNC Retrofit

This Shoda Router was retrofitted with a new 4 Axis Siemens 808D Advanced CNC system. Additionally an S7-1200 Siemens PLC was used in this application to satisfy the IO and movement requirements. Previously, this machine had a Fanuc 18Oi-M control and four 30Nm, 3000rpm AC Servo motors/drives. Part of the existing electrical enclosure was re-used and a brand new enclosure plate was provided to house the Siemens V70 drives to power/control the new 30Nm 1FL-6 axis motors.

For the operator station, a new enclosure was installed with the Siemens 808D Panel Processing Unit, Machine Control Panel, key-switch, and a few customer requested push buttons. To make part setup and machine jogging even more convenient on this Shoda Router, we included a wired Hand Pulse Generator for the operator to use as well. A feature they did not have on their previous setup.

The goal was to provide the customer with an updated, solid solution for their Shoda Router at a cost that would not hurt the bank. The Siemens 808D control does just that!
